Rachel Amphlett is the author of the Dan Taylor espionage novels and the Detective Kay Hunter series, which now numbers 4 novels - the 5th is out on March 11th.

In 2018 Rachel has already released three books in her new English Spy Mysteries series

After the success of the Detective Kay Hunter series, Rachel was able to leave her part-time job and become a full-time writer, and that gave her the perfect opportunity to go back through some writing ideas that had been fermenting for a while.

This is the third time I've spoken Rachel on this podcast - mainly because she's created some amazing impetus in her career since we first started chatting.

This interview is one of my 'Take 2' chats, where I catch up with one of the authors that I've spoken to before.

Alison Ingleby is newly published writer of sci-fo and dystopian fiction - when we first spoke she'd just received some bruising edits on her first book.

I met Alison at an Amazon event in Manchester last year and was keen to chart her journey from the publication of that first book and beyond.

We've now ended up co-presenting a new, non-writing podcast together - it's amazing where a bit of networking can end up!

Tim Wakeling is an entrepreneur and marketer living in the middle of nowhere in rural Cumbria, my home county.

His 'day job' is running The Helpful Book Company, which publishes books and videos that help people learn how to use computers, tablets and the like.

He sells directly to the customer, so uses lots of email and direct mail to keep in touch and make sure people know what books he's bringing out.

I first heard about Tim via a previous podcast guest - Russell Holden - who piqued my interest in Tim's business model.

Carol Rivers' writing life began with short stories for women’s magazines, then novellas and eventually, sagas written for Simon & Schuster.

She writes East End of London sagas which are set between the two World Wars, with gritty issues and feisty heroines and quite a bit of mischief.

Carol's pen name is Parker Dee and her new series of self-published books are contemporary romances set in the tranquil British countryside, often with doctors and nurses as central characters, under the title under the title of Dishy Doc Series.

Ron Vitale caught my attention on Twitter at the beginning of 2017 because of an excellent post that he made on his blog outlining in great detail his indie-author outgoings and income.

Few authors dare to share this information, but Ron broke it all down in great detail holding back nothing in the process.

When Ron got in touch with me to share the details of his latest book launch – revealing every detail of costs, what worked and what didn't – I couldn't resist catching up with him to find out how it had gone.

Unfortunately, the launch failed to ignite for Ron – but he walked away with some great learning points to fuel his future career as an indie author.
